I tailor the way I do therapy to meet the needs of the individual/family/couple that I work with. I lean toward a more psychodynamic perspective, which means I tend to focus on the ways one's past and present influence each other and bring these unconscious dynamics to consciousness. Often times we develop ways of behaving/ thinking at a young age that were helpful at that time. When we become adults these same ways of behaving/thinking might not be so helpful anymore. We will work on identifying these dynamics developed in childhood in an accepting and understanding way in order to make changes and develop new more helpful ones. I like to incorporate other techniques and theoretical approaches, depending on the individual's needs, including inner child work, guided imagery, art therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness, gestalt techniques, emotion focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and more.
